The Mission To Haiti Canada assessment team accompanied with 91.5 The Beat Radio Station and Short Term International Medical Missions Abroad (STIMMA) travelled to Haiti today. The situation in Haiti will be difficult for many years to come; MTH Canada will seek to continue to help the people of Haiti in the coming years. In the short term, we have planned to send an assessment team of four people from March 18-22, 2010, that intends to meet with Pastor Charles, check on sponsor child progress, inspect the schools we sponsor for damage and set up for short term relief teams. It seems amazing that less than one month after the earthquake in Haiti, the attention to this poor country has almost disappeared from most of the front pages of our local newspaper as well as the headlines from the media reports. Such is not the case for Mission to Haiti Canada. More than ever the efforts of countless volunteers within Mission to Haiti Canada’s organization have been busy answering emails and phone calls with steady streams of offers for assistance. Mission to Haiti Canada continues in its efforts to collect monetary donations and drug donations in order to assist the Haitians. At this current time we are requesting that everyone send their funds as soon as possible to Mission to Haiti Canada as all funds received before February 12, 2010 will be eligible for a government fund matching grant. The four person team is on their way back to Canada after spending the last five days in Santo Domingo to transfer medical supplies, funds and co-ordinate further the needs of the communities in Haiti that we serve.

After planning for most of Saturday, Bill, Jack and Glenn were in the process of arranging to take a helicopter ride into our Mission Camp in Messialler to resolve some unanswered questions, we were surprised to hear that Bisson and Junior had arrived in the Dominican Republic on Saturday evening and would be able to meet with us Sunday morning. On Thursday January 21, 2010 four members of MTH Canada left Toronto to fly into Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. They were accompanied by twelve totes of donated medication and funds that assist with the purchase of food, fuels and other essentials required to maintain Pastor Charles compound as a refugee centre.
