The situation in Haiti will be difficult for many years to come; MTH Canada will seek to continue to help the people of Haiti in the coming years. In the short term, we have planned to send an assessment team of four people from March 18-22, 2010, that intends to meet with Pastor Charles, check on sponsor child progress, inspect the schools we sponsor for damage and set up for short term relief teams. We are very thankful for all of the donations that have been received and have submitted all pertinent documents for the CIDA fund matching program. Many tents and tarps have been donated and the need for these is great as the rainy season approaches. These supplies have been packed and we are planning to add food and medicines to the shipment and get them into the hands of the Haitians as soon as possible.

We have scheduled a short term relief team from April 10-17, 2010. This is not a normal mission trip and we have limited our team to a total of 29 people from both Canada and USA. There are specific allotments for numbers of medical, construction and sponsorship volunteers with a primary focus on medical. Due to the current volatility and psychologically extreme conditions, we have decided to only accept people who have been to Haiti previously or who possess a specific medical qualification. This has been done to protect our volunteers and to best serve the people of Haiti. If your desire is to volunteer for a short-term relief trip to Haiti and you do not qualify for this one in April, our next scheduled mission trip is Jan 17-28, 2011. We are looking to add some short term relief mission trips between now and then and will keep you posted when and if these dates become available.

Bisson continues to work hard as our hands, feet, and eyes in Haiti. Please pray for him and all the Haitians as they struggle through this difficult time. We will continue to provide updates here and post more photos as they become available; please direct enquiries through our website to the appropriate contact person. May God continue to direct us and protect the people of Haiti.
