Today started like yesterday but with a little different feel. Breakfast was delicious as usual consisting of crepes with bananas. Glenn opened with prayer and devotions. He talked about the need for us to listen and then respond to each other with Christian love.
Again we prayed that Pastor Charles would be successful in getting the custom inspector to the camp early enough for us to get the container unloaded in timely fashion. Finally at 10:57 he entered the camp and the team sprang (...)

Today started as all the others here in Haiti but with a little difference. We all have a sense of urgency anticipating the arrival of the container. Pastor Charles has diligently left early in the morning to go to the customs office to negotiate the release of the container from the port. I am writing the blog early to fill the time after lunch while we wait.
Most of the construction team stayed at the camp to fill in the time with odd jobs around the camp. This morning we cleaned out (...)

The day started out with a big breakfast consisting of pancakes and fruit. Shawn, our early riser and light sleeper greets us as we straggle out of the dorms. We need to tell him to pull back on the throttle and let the rest of us catch up. His exuberance keeps us on our toes and we wonder how he can function on so little sleep. When breakfast was finished Glenn did devotions and talked about his presence draws you on Psalms 23. He talked about one of the most popular chapter in the bible and (...)

Today started with another great breakfast of omelettes and fruit. We are definitely getting spoiled by our Haitian hosts. There is no chance of weigh loss unless we catch a bug but we all hope that doesn’t happen. Antonine who is charge of the kitchen continues to impress with the quality of meals. We feel like we are staying at a quality hotel. Thank you!
Construction began with us waiting for the generator to return from its weekend travels. Once it arrived the site became a (...)

The sun was shining as we awoke to the smell of freshly brewed coffee. We settled in our chairs to a circle discussion drinking our coffee and enjoying stories of adventures of the week. Before breakfast our hearts were heavy with the news of Nick Kiers passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kiers family who are strong supporters of Mission to Haiti. Nick has been to Haiti with us as well as Harry and will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to touch his kind soul. We pray (...)

We started the day with a breakfast consisting of French toast and fruit. Gary then led us in devotions and read from Luke 21 about the widow’s offering to God. He described that our God is a jealous God and wants everything from us not a little piece. We should strive to give our all in everything that we do and he will provide for us. We sometimes forget how blessed we are in Canada and not hold that against anyone or anything that we come across in our daily lives.
The bus to take (...)

Our Thursday evening outdoor activities were cut short due to a heavy rain storm. Most of the team came inside when it started to rain except for Judith and Gary who were ready bedtime stories to the boys and then had to run through the rain to the safety of the dorms. After re-arranging our dorm rooms to get some of the beds away from the windows our slumber party continued.
The morning brought new sunshine but the overnight rain did not cool down the temperature at all. After a (...)

Today started with Glenn doing devotions and talking about finding a quiet place to be with God. He said that we all live busy lives and get caught up with your businesses and even when we are in Haiti we need to find a quiet place to be with God.
The medical clinic was held in Favo and they had 115 patients which was a little less than the 186 from yesterday. This gave the nurses time to breathe and rest for on slot tomorrow. They have settled in and are becoming accustomed to Shawn (...)

After an early night to bed on Tuesday night to catch up on some much needed sleep, the group woke up to a bright sunny morning with more fresh coffee. We had a great breakfast of eggs, crème of wheat and fruit and then we had a devotional on that God’s presence would go with you and He would give us rest.
Today is an exciting day because after a day of preparation for medical and construction yesterday the team was ready to get into the workload with lots of energy. The medical (...)

see picturessee picturesAt around 1:00 the last of the group landed at the PMH campus. We have arrived safe and sound but a little travel weary. When travelling to Haiti we need to be prepared for anything! The bus was repaired by the locals before our arrival but they have limited knowledge of automatic transmissions. So (...)
