Bonjour from Haiti.

Our last day in Haiti has arrived, and although we are anxious to head home and see all of our loved ones it is also sad to say goodbye to the friends we’ve made here.

We woke up bright and early to the sound of the dogs howling at each other (again), but not to worry as today is our day off and the sun, beach and pool await us.

We had a quick breakfast of fresh fruit and oatmeal, and then off in a (...)

Greetings from Haiti on our final day of work!

This morning felt different as we woke up and started getting ready for the day. There was still much to do! We shared a delicious breakfast together of fresh mangos and watermelon, with raspberry jam filled crepes. Delicious!

We said a prayer and asked God to bless our day and keep our energy and motivation up as we embarked on our final day – not a hard thing to do as there’s (...)

Bon swa from Haiti, Time is flying!!!!

As we prepare to break off into our different groups and duties this morning, Glenn begins devotions and talks to us about ‘ripples’ – the ripples we create and leave behind in everything that we do. Each day, as we meet people and encounter their stories, we do not realize to the extent that we may have effected them, or them us. Some are obvious, and some are not. That’s why we must remember (...)

Good morning from beautiful Haiti.

After a busy, successful and fulfilling weekend, the team woke up this morning tired, a little sore, but excited to start the day.

Before beginning morning devotions, Glen reminds us that we are in the home stretch as it is our last week here in Haiti. He shared this verse with us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and (...)

Greetings from Haiti.

What a day we had! It is Sunday morning and we woke for breakfast at 7am, where we shared a wonderful breakfast and spoke about the plans for the day. It is a special one, because the Mission to Haiti team is in town, as well as a new Pastor and some guests from Cape Haitian.

We dress in our Sunday’s best, grab our chairs and head over to the church. It was a refreshing sight to see the men in collared shirts (...)

Hello to all our friends and family from Haiti..

Glenn opened our Saturday in prayer and talked about to do lists. God has a map with your name on it – He knows what He’s doing. Ask yourself, are you honoring God when you’re setting your goals, plans and to do lists? Reflecting on the past 6 days that we have been here, we have accomplished a lot on ours. We are reminded to take the time to review our lists, what we have done so far, (...)

Bon swa from Haiti. The sun is beginning to set as we make our way back onto the compound from a day at Montrois.

This morning after a wonderful breakfast of fresh watermelon, papaya, bananas, and pineapples with scrambled eggs and porridge, Glenn led us into our morning devotions where he spoke about being passionate about the mission, and the work we are here to do. He encouraged us to give as much as we can to the Haitians during the (...)

Greetings from sunny hot Haiti

Well, not much time to think about you all enjoying the cold weather and snow with lots happening here. The day started early as we woke up to silence. There is a saying here, “you just go with the flow”. The generator took a break from working. Mmmm does this mean no morning cup of coffee? Thankfully God knows our needs and soon we heard the grunt and splutter and it started again. It was a subtle hint that it was time to get the new (...)

Good evening from Haiti. We trust that you are all enjoying the cold winter weather back home, as we enjoy the hot Haiti winter weather here. You will be seeing less of us when we come back due to hard work and lots of sweat!
This morning for breakfast we gobbled up delicious pancakes and bacon with fresh watermelon and bananas, stocking us up for a hot busy day. Pastor Leon was here to share some of God’s word and help prepare us for the day. (...)

Day 2 – Good Evening from Haiti!

Most of us were awoken this morning by howling roosters, barking dogs and birds tweeting at about 5:00 am, bright and early. But, nothing beats the sound of the Orphanage Children, running about in the yard, laughing and playing at 6:00 am in the morning.

Glenn Reinders, the President of Mission to Haiti rounded us up for breakfast and morning devotions where he shared with us Jeremiah 29:11 (...)
