Greetings friends and family members,

What a fantastic day we had! Our morning was as peaceful as usual. A nice morning breeze, cup of coffee, and a yummy breakfast of crepes and fruit! As per usual we set out right away to accomplish as much as possible! A group of people went to a school in Port- au- Prince called  Christa College where they also saw sponsor kids from SEADT to hand out boxes to sponsor children. Unlike the last trip there were many sponsor children that received (...)

Greetings family and friends,

WOW, what an amazing day. It was filled with song, dance and hard work. The construction team once again started their day at 5:30 am to go get water for the cement floor pours. The rest of us woke up by ourselves for a change. Breakfast today consisted of oatmeal and sausage and assorted fruit trays. After we were done eating, Jackie led us in devotion about how God moulds us from clay. She stated that we have to remember that we are not here to help the (...)

Greetings, friends and family members,

Our morning today was just a pleasant as our first. A group of people had an earlier start to their day then the rest as they left to fill the water tanks for the cement pour for later today. The rest of us had a quiet morning (besides Jeff honking the air horn on the dump truck at 6 am), enjoying our coffee, fresh fruit, and muffins. Our morning devotion was lead by Pam. We sang Jesus’ praise and were reminded that we are the hands and feet of (...)

Greetings friends and family members,

We started off our first day waking up to a donkey and many birds chatting away at four o’clock this morning. A hot cup of Tim Horton’s coffee helped us all feel at home even though we drank it outside in shorts and a t-shirt. Our glorious breakfast of pancakes, bacon, and fresh-off-the-tree-mangos (which made Jacqueline Douwes cry, “This is the best mango I’ve ever had. I think I’m going to cry!”.) was served at seven am, followed by (...)

Greeting, friends and family,

WE HAVE ARRIVED SAFE AND SOUND! Our journey from Ontario, Canada, to Cabaret, Haiti went without a hitch. (Besides some difficulty with Dutch passports.) We started off our day to an extremely early start at four am. We flew through customs and security, and boarded our plane to Miami on time, at eight thirty am. Our two and a half hour plane ride had some turbulence, but other then that went smoothly. Our three hour layover provided us with (...)

The Final Days

Our time in Haiti quickly drew to a close as the final clinic was held in Saint Marc’s on Wednesday and our group travelled to the resort, Kaliko on Thursday for a day of rest and relaxation. We are posting this blog from home, as we did not have time before leaving Haiti.

Port au Prince at
Pastor Leon’s Church

On Tuesday, the medical team went back into Port au Prince to
Pastor Leon’s church to run a clinic for the people there. The church is
actually a white tarp in the shape of a dome placed on a cement pad. There were
pews set up inside the dome and there were already many people sitting and
waiting to see the nurses and doctor when we arrived. We quickly set up four
stations with (...)

Our Blog today is going to feature the young couple from
Canada that has been living here in Cabaret since November of 2011, Jeff and
Chelsey Klasen.

Jeff and Chelsey come from Mitchell Ontario, but actually hail
from Wainfleet and Londsborough respectably.
Jeff works in construction with his father framing houses.  Chelsey works for the Stratford Shakespeare
Festival.  They entered into this
adventure because they felt the lord leading them (...)

Monday

We said good-bye to one of our team members this morning.
Ben left to head back to Canada returning to run his business. He was a great
help here, installing the new laundry tub and redoing the kitchen in the main
house and we will miss him!

This morning Lammy lead devotions while Ed was en route to
the airport with Ben. She told us a story of how a few years ago the team was
on (...)

Sunday

Another beautiful day has dawned in Cabaret! Most of us have
finally learned to sleep through the constant choir of barking dogs, crowing
roosters and the loud braying of our donkey. (of course, sleeping through
Linda’s snoring is a whole other story! LOL) Ed began our morning in prayer,
thanking God for allowing us to serve Him in Haiti, and thanking our friends
and family back home (...)
